Welcome to the online services of the Suffolk County Executive's Office of Consumer Affairs.
Since 1974, the Office of Consumer Affairs has dedicated itself to resolving complaints, enforcing the County Code, educating the public and obtaining restitution for Suffolk consumers. The Office’s presence is felt throughout the County, from the testing of scales in supermarkets and other food stores to consumer education presentations before schools and civic groups; and from the testing of all gasoline pumps and home heating oil meters for accuracy to the licensing of businesses in various occupations. Every year, thousands of Suffolk County consumers write, call or visit our office in Hauppauge. Every day, trades people visit or call our office to obtain information about home improvement and other types of occupational licenses.
On this web site, consumers can verify whether a contractor is properly licensed, get up-to-date information on gasoline and heating oil prices, read consumer tips and even see a list of the County’s “ Worst Unlicensed Contractors to avoid.”
The Office is divided into three Bureaus - Consumer Complaints, Weights and Measures and Licensing.
Should you wish to e-mail us, please include your full name, mailing address and daytime telephone number. For further assistance call (631) 853-4600 Monday through Friday, from 9am to 4 pm Thank You.
