Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy Hails Passage of Lease Extension for Long Island Ducks

Accord Approved by Legislature Today will Keep Atlantic League Team in Central Islip for Another Ten Years

Hauppauge , NY – On a day with weather better suited for ducks, Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy today announced the passage of a ten-year lease extension for the Long Island Ducks to occupy Citibank Park in Central Islip.

“The Long Island Ducks have provided affordable, family entertainment to more than 3 million fans over ten years now, and we are thrilled that they will continue to call Suffolk County home,” said Levy.

The agreement which runs from 2010 through 2019, gives Suffolk an increase in the annual base rent for the 6,000-seat county-owned stadium, as well as an increased share of advertising revenue.

The team will be making $1 million in stadium enhancements over the life of the contract, including an upgraded centerfield scoreboard.

The Long Island Ducks play in the independent Atlantic League and set an independent league record for single season attendance with 443,142 fans in 2001
