Historically, the natural beauty of Suffolk County, Long Island, has attracted a number of production companies and actors. For example, the movie studio Biograph started filming in 1902 in Bay Shore. Some people are surprised to learn that the Keystone Kops had their start in Bay Shore, as did the early "Our Gang" shows. When Rudolph Valentino blazed across the desert in the 1917 motion picture, "The Sheik," he was in reality blazing across the beach at Montauk.

In recent years, there has been a sharp increase nationwide in television and film production that has created more jobs, more revenues and more opportunities than ever before. Now, more than ever, Suffolk County is ideally positioned to serve the film industry. From Gold Coast mansions to ocean vistas, Suffolk County has the locations ideal for your shoot. See Article, "Luring Movie Stars to Suffolk County."

The Suffolk County Film Office is the official "link" of the county to the motion picture and television industry. This website is but one resource to assist you. Whatever the size of your film project, Suffolk County is there to support your efforts.
