It is an honor for me to continue to serve as your Suffolk County Legislator representing the 13th legislative district, which includes Fort Salonga, San Remo, Kings Park, Nissequogue, Head of the Harbor, and parts of Commack, East Northport, Northport, Smithtown and St. James.

Public service has been my life. Prior to being elected in 2013, I was a member of the Suffolk County Police Department for 25 years, retiring with the rank of Detective. While with the department, I was assigned to the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force for more than 10 years.

Since becoming a legislator, I have seen first-hand that the county is in dire financial straits, which has made me a very conscientious watchdog of the taxpayer’s dollar. In fact, I was outraged when I learned the county was planning to purchase police vehicles, which are used 24 hours a day and seven days a week with a life expectancy of three years, and bond them for 18 years! This was also true with respect to the bonding of county computers, which last about five years. Through my stance I was able to reduce the bonding period for both purchases to five years.

When I don’t have a scheduling conflict, I have been attending the Waiver Committee and Industrial Development Agency’s monthly meetings to learn, observe and to question various actions instead of rubberstamping an approval of each project.

If I may be of assistance with any county-related problem or issue, please do not hesitate to contact me at 631-854-3900. My staff and I are here to serve you.
