Thank you for re-electing me to represent you as Legislator for Suffolk County’s Third Legislative District. It has been an honor to represent you with a strong voice in the Legislature for working families as I continue to fight to protect our children, defend our seniors, and ensure that our community is a safe, affordable, and peaceful place to live.

I am working hard for common sense programs that invest in our children. We need to make sure our children receive a quality education in a safe environment. I am also fighting each day to hold the line on our property taxes, protect the rights of workers, restore and preserve our environment, and look out for the well being of our senior citizens.

I have made your quality of life my main priority, and will continue to crack down on absentee landlords and reform our social services system until we have taken back all our neighborhoods from slumlords and speculators.

I want you to know that the door to my office is always open, and I will do everything within my power as a legislator to address your issues and concerns.

Joe Fazio Celebrates 100 Years Joe Fazio, Mastic Beach’s unofficial farmer, celebrated his 100th birthday at the Mastic Beach Property Owner’s Association on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Legislator Kate Browning (WF-Shirley) joined family, friends and other elected officials to recognize Joe’s amazing achievement and to reflect on his accomplished life. Joseph Fazio was born on March 27th, 1916 in the Bronx, New York. At the age of nine he moved to Brooklyn and ultimately started his own trucking business. In the late 1940’s Joseph and his family moved to Mastic Beach. He was drawn to the beautiful beaches, fishing, clamming, and boating. Joe has been an active member of the community throughout his life. He has assisted in building benches for local docks and built the Santa sleigh used by the Mastic Beach Property Owner’s in the annual Christmas parade. Joe volunteered for annual seafood festivals, loves ballroom dancing and continues to play the piano for senior citizens. He is a long standing member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He dresses to the nines at special events and even wears a tie to work in his garden. Joe currently has two-hundred seedling tomato plants and intends to grow hundreds more. He is known for sharing this crop with anyone that enjoys tomatoes. He believes that good food, good family, good friends and a strong belief in God have kept him going to one hundred.
