Dear Residents,

As your local representative on the Suffolk County Legislature, it is with great honor that I represent the 9th Legislative District of Brentwood, Central Islip and North Bay Shore. I am humbled by the overwhelming support I received throughout my first term and grateful for the opportunity to represent you again in my second term. I have had the pleasure of meeting many people who share my vision in improving this great district. This collaborative vision will bring LD9 to even greater heights.

* Changing Lives, Building Futures *

The goal of VetsBuild Long Island is simple… to help our Long Island Veterans find jobs in the manufacturing, energy efficeint building and performance contracting. VetsBuild provides the following at no cost to the veteran:

-- Training at United Way’s E3 Career Training Center (Energy /Efficiency/Education), a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest technology and equipment to provide VetsBuild students with hands-on training.

-- Once the introductory training has been completed, advanced training opportunities are available in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), composite technology and advanced manufacturing.

-- Preparation for job opportunities in the high-growth, high-demand energy retrofit, weatherization, & green building industries.

-- One-on-one job counseling and job placement assistance, soft skills training, resume workshops and interview preparation.

-- VetsBuild graduates interested in a career in weatherization are provided information about advanced training options available through partner institutional providers.

-- Building Performance Institute (BPI) test center – advance credentials available.

FASD FACTS

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are caused by a woman drinking alcohol during pregnancy. Alcohol in hte mother's blood passes to the baby through the umbilical cord. When a woman drinks alcohol, so does her baby.
