| In Suffolk County, administration of the Civil Service Law is carried out under the direction of the Suffolk County Personnel Director. The Suffolk County Department of Civil Service is responsible for overseeing personnel actions taken by some 241 employing jurisdictions including school districts, towns, villages water districts, library districts, etc. Collectively, these jurisdictions employ some 40,000 individuals.

CIVIL ENGINEERS
The Suffolk County Department of Public Works in Yaphank seeks motivated and self-starting civil engineers to fill entry level design positions in our Highway Design and Construction Inspection Units. These sections are responsible for the design, maintenance and improvement of over 420 miles of County roads.
Jr Civil Engineer positions require: NYS driver’s license, Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Sanitary Engineering and either: a) Master’s Degree in Engineering Technology or Civil or Sanitary Engineering; or, b) experience as a civil or sanitary engineer or trainee – 1 yr in a state or municipal dept, or 2 yrs in a private organization Starting Salary $49,433

Investigative Assistant (Technical Services) Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office Riverhead, NY
Assists investigative personnel in the installation, use and maintenance of electronic audio and video surveillance and recording equipment for use in undercover investigations and “sting” operations. Transports and sets up equipment necessary to play back audio and videotapes for pre-trial preparation, Grand Jury and in-court presentation. Responsibilities include receiving, logging in, storing, duplicating, transporting, releasing and receipting evidence. Testimony in court and Grand Jury may be required.
Requirements: Graduation from high school and one year of experience in a position which involved the use, installation and maintenance of electronic audio and video recording, surveillance, duplication and play back equipment. Valid NYS driver’s license. Suffolk County residency. Appointment is provisional and candidate must take next available competitive examination and score high enough for permanent appointment.

Requirements:
Suffolk County residency and: (a) Bachelor's Degree in natural science or in sanitary, civil, mechanical, electrical, electronic engineering or a related field, and six (6) years of experience in sanitary, electrical, mechanical, environmental engineering, or the operation and maintenance of Type A wastewater treatment plant, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory position; or, (b) Sixty (60) college credits towards a degree in one of the fields of study listed above in (a) and eight (8) years of experience as noted above in (a), two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory position. NYS driver’s license may be required.
