Sheriff's Office Arrest Deer Park Man After Eviction Leads to the Discovery of 13 Weapons and Drugs

On February 3, 2017, a 28 year old man from Deer Park was arrested by Deputy Sheriffs from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office for illegal possession of a small arsenal of weapons and drugs.

Deputy Sheriffs Ronald Saager and John Jordan of the Civil Enforcement Section were executing a warrant to remove on an apartment at 86 Westwood Avenue in Deer Park at about 9:34 a.m. Deputy Sheriffs received no response at the apartment door and, after gaining entry, found Dean Nunez sleeping in the bedroom. Two loaded handguns were observed on the nightstand within arm’s reach of Nunez. One of the handguns had its serial numbers defaced. A subsequent search of the apartment led to the discovery of 4 assault rifles, 6 additional rifles, 1 shotgun, cases of ammunition, magazines, steroids, Suboxone, Methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia.

Nunez was arrested and is facing a total of 12 charges that include 5 felonies and 7 misdemeanors. The charges pending are 5 felony counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, 5 misdemeanor counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, and 2 misdemeanor counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree.

Nunez will be held overnight and arraigned at 1st District Court in Central Islip on February 4, 2017.
