RIVERHEAD, NY-- The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office held its Annual Memorial Service today to honor seventy of Suffolk’s Correction Officers and Deputy Sheriffs who have died in service since 1887, when the Office began keeping such records.  The Sheriff’s Office dates back to 1683 and is the oldest continuously operating law enforcement agency in Suffolk County.

The Annual Memorial Service is hosted by the Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Correction Officers Association and the Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff’s Police Benevolent Association. The service was attended by families of the deceased, law enforcement officers, elected officials and civilian personnel. Sheriff Vincent F. DeMarco gave the Memorial Address and expressed condolences to all of the family members in attendance. Suffolk County Legislator Thomas Muratore was the Master of Ceremonies.
