Sheriff's Office Operations and Responsibilities

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office must strive to simultaneously meet three broad policy goals - community safety, fiscal responsibility and program effectiveness, and justice and equity in criminal justice and crime control policy. These goals relate to the basic concepts and major public policy issues in criminal justice.

The ability of this office to change and evolve is vital to the continuing task of improving operations and services throughout the County - to change not under the compulsion of court decrees, but on the basis of professional wisdom.
