(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced the guilty plea and sentence of Obdul Anthony to 10 years’ incarceration after a two-month long investigation into the distribution of narcotics.
“After being released to parole supervision for serious felony convictions involving drugs and firearms, and boldly continuing to sell cocaine and fentanyl while on parole, this defendant has finally received the appropriate sentence of imprisonment for the deadly substances he has peddled on our streets,” said District Attorney Tierney. “Thanks to the persistent and collaborative work conducted by members of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in collaboration with the Suffolk County Police Department, this defendant has finally received a sentence commensurate with his actions, which will keep him off our streets for a decade.”

The Suffolk County Police Department began an investigation into Anthony’s narcotic distribution in Farmingdale after learning of his narcotic dealings there. Undercover officers of the Suffolk County Police Department Narcotics Section contacted the defendant in an effort to purchase cocaine and fentanyl. Between October 2021 and December 2021, police officers from the Narcotics Section purchased cocaine and/or fentanyl from Anthony on seven separate dates.
Anthony, who had been released to parole supervision for his 2016 convictions on two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, was arrested by the Suffolk County Police Department for the above sales on December 20, 2021. He also has prior convictions from 2007 and 2006 for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, and also has a conviction for Attempted Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree in 1996.
Anthony pleaded guilty on September 13, 2022 before the Honorable John B. Collins. At the time of his plea, he admitted that on December 15, 2021 he sold over a half ounce of cocaine to an undercover officer and that on October 20, 2021 he also sold a quantity of fentanyl to an undercover police officer.
The defendant was sentenced today before Justice John B. Collins to 10 years’ incarceration followed by five years post-release supervision. He was represented by Matthew Tuohy, Esq.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Saam Jalayer of the Narcotics Bureau.
