Educational Programs

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office believes that education and awareness are critically important factors in the fight against crime. Through our educational programs, prosecutors speak to students and their parents about the consequences their actions can have on their personal lives and the importance of good decision making.

Choices & Consequences

In Suffolk County, motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death for our young people between the ages of 15 and 24. The leading causes of motor vehicle fatalities among our young people are driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, distracted driving and reckless driving. The Choices & Consequences Program is tailored to young adults and their parents to discuss the real life consequences that one bad decision involving drugs, alcohol or reckless driving can have upon their lives, as well as the lives of their friends and family. Click here for more information on the Choices & Consequences Program.

Teen Dating Violence & Internet Safety

In this two-in-one program, prosecutors speak to students about the dangers of teen dating violence, including warning signs and how to get help if they or someone they know is in a physically or verbally abusive relationship, as well as the importance of safe internet use, covering topics from cyber bullying and peer pressure to online sexual predators. Click here for more information on the Teen Dating Violence & Internet Safety Program.
