(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Arnaldo Marcano, 42, of Bellport, pleaded guilty to Burglary in the Second Degree for burglarizing a home in Bellport.
“This defendant was just out of prison and still on parole for prior home burglaries when he once again broke into someone’s home,” said District Attorney Tierney. “This 10-year sentence will keep the community safe from this serial burglar. I will continue to do my part as District Attorney by keeping Suffolk County residents safe by preventing individuals such as this defendant from terrorizing our neighborhoods.”
According to the investigation and the defendant’s admissions during his plea allocution, on February 24, 2023, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Marcano broke a window of a residence in Bellport and entered into the home where he stole money before fleeing the residence on foot.
At the time of this crime, Marcano was out on parole following 2004 convictions in Suffolk County for Burglary in the First degree, a Class B violent felony, and six counts of Burglary in the Second Degree, Class C violent felonies. In 2000, Marcano had been convicted of Attempted Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class E felony.
On May 4, 2023, Marcano pleaded guilty before Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable John B. Collins, to Burglary in the Second Degree, a class C violent felony. He is due back in court on June 7, 2023, when he is expected to be sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. Marcano is being represented by Jason Bassett, Esq.
