Did you receive a postcard from the County Clerk?
Suffolk County law requires the County Clerk to notify a homeowner whenever a mortgage has been paid off and a Mortgage Satisfaction has been filed against the property. The purpose is to remind the homeowner that if their property taxes were being collected with their monthly mortgage payments and paid annually by the mortgage company that they are now required to pay property taxes directly to their Town Receiver of Taxes.
