Hotel/Motel Tax Audit Reveals Suffolk County Treasurer's Office Unable to Enforce Full Compliance

Comptroller John M. Kennedy, Jr. announced today in an audit report for the period January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013, that the Suffolk County Treasurer's Office does not have adequate staff to sufficiently monitor the hospitality industry and enforce the Hotel/Motel Tax law to ensure compliance and maximize tax revenues.

The pouring rain Saturday morning did not keep more than 400 people from solemnly gathering at 9/11 Responders Remembered Park in Nesconset to honor first responders who died from illnesses related to their heroic efforts at Ground Zero.
