Preventing the Financial Exploitation of Seniors

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office Financial Crimes Bureau is committed to fighting financial crimes our senior citizen community by presenting educational programs at senior citizen centers, AARP events, libraries, and 55 and over residences to introduce, educate, and prevent seniors from being victimized.  These lectures help instruct the elderly to protect them from scammers and fraudsters by guarding their personal information and preventing them from losing their life savings by having their identity stolen by con artists and swindlers. These lectures are designed to provide our senior community with formidable weapons to combat thieves preying on the elderly, and include updates on the latest scams the bureau has encountered as well as providing seniors with the defenses against them.
