Air Traffic Control Operating Efficiencies:
- FOK'S FAA Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) is fully operational between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM.
- Aircraft operating into FOK would not be subjected to LGA or JFK air traffic management initiatives (including Ground Delay Programs, Expect Departure Clearance Time programs, etc.). Even when arrival delay programs are in place at LGA and JFK, arrival to FOK is not typically affected.
- Vectoring patterns for arrivals to FOK are greatly reduced due to the lack of congestion compared with the airspace of other area airports.
- All taxiways are relatively close to the airport terminal facility. With FOK's light density ground operations, any runway end can be easily reached within minutes.
- The Airport has an Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Automated Surface Observation System (ASOS).
- Airport snow removal teams are augmented with personnel and equipment from the Department of Public Work's highway division and the Air National Guard during snow emergencies.
