Several treatments for COVID-19 are now available to those at higher risk for progression to severe disease, but not currently sick enough to require hospital care. These medications are free, but require a prescription from a healthcare provider. If you test positive for COVID-19 and are at high risk for severe illness, ask your healthcare provider if you are eligible to receive medication to treat COVID-19. If you do not have a healthcare provider, you can call 311 and ask to be connected to a communicable disease nurse who can assist you in finding care. Healthcare providers can also ask to speak with a communicable disease nurse to learn more about COVID-19 treatment options. If you are a healthcare provider, click here for more information

Those at risk for severe illness are more likely to be hospitalized, require intensive care, and may die due to COVID-19. Risk factors for severe COVID-19 infection include age over 65 and/or certain medical conditions. Find out more here.

COVID-19 Testing

  • 18,676 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 1,980,773 total tests have been administered since March
  • 1,786 new cases were reported
  • 99,717 total cases have been reported since March
  • 5.0% of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 8.7% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 8.8% positive on a 7-day average
  • 9.6% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 9.7% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing

  • 32,694 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies
  • 310,824 total have been tested for antibodies

Fatalities

  • 17 fatalities
  • 2,328 total fatalities

COVID-19 Hospitalizations data from January 1, 2021

  • 759 individuals were hospitalized, no change in 24 hours
  • 80 were new admissions
  • 113 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 6 in 24 hours
  • 60 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 90 were discharged since the last report
  • 7,921 have been discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

  • 3,227 hospital beds, 869 available, 27%
  • 429 ICU beds, 98 available, 23%
