Covid-19 Case Update April 9, 2021 4pm

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on April 9, 2021. Last updated April 8, 2021.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information - As of April 9, 2021 

  •        529,219 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 10,963
  •        35.7% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  •        314,283 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 10,309
  •        21.2% percent of the total population of 1,481,093 has completed their vaccine series
  •        Demographics can be found on the NYSDOH vaccine tracker
  •        819,800 was the weekly allocation of COVID-19 vaccine first doses fully delivered to New York providers during the week 3/29-4/4

COVID-19 Viral Testing- On April 8, 2021:

  • 20,503 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 3,528,528 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 731 new cases were reported
  • 188,805 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 5.4% of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 3.6% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 4.2% positive on a 7-day average
  • 3.5% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 4.2% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing Suffolk County

  • 46,876 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies
  • 361,403 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 5 fatalities
  • 3,289 total fatalities

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data from April 8, 2021

  • 338 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 19 in 24 hours
  • 33  were new admissions
  • 79 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 5 in 24 hours
  • 49 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 46 were discharged since the last report
  • 13,470 have been discharged since March 22,2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,147 hospital beds, 780 available, 25%
  • 439 ICU beds, 108 available, 25%
