COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - March 29, 2020, 2:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following confirmed cases and deaths due to COVID-19 through 2:30 p.m. on 3/29/2020

  • 5,023  confirmed cases  (up 885 from the 4,138 cases that were reported at 2:30 p.m. on March 28)
  • 502 patients are hospitalized (up 93 from March 2), 160 of those are in the intensive care unit (up 21 from March 28) 
  • 40 deaths (up 3 from March 28) 

A breakdown of cases by township reported through 11:30 p.m. on 3/29/2020 - Note: this breakdown comprises the information from 3,698 records available to Suffolk County at this time. 

  • Islip -- 792, up from 699 on March 28
  • Huntington -- 761, up from 641 on March 28
  • Brookhaven -- 605, up from 517 on March 28 
  • Babylon -- 537, up from 476 on March 28 
  • Smithtown --196, up from 178 on March 28 
  • Southold -- 138, up from 131 on March 28 
  • Southampton -- 79, up from 72 on March 28 
  • Riverhead -- 68, up from 60 on March 28 
  • East Hampton --  22, up from 20 on March 28 
  • Shelter Island -- 1,  no change from March 28
  • Township not known -- 499

Deaths reported on March 28 at 2:30 p.m. include:

  • A male in his 60s with underlying health conditions who died at home. COVID-19 was confirmed by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
  • A male in his 70s with underlying health conditions who was in mandatory isolation at a local hospital
  • A male in his 30s with underlying medical conditions who was in mandatory isolation at a local hospital
