COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - March 31, 2020, 2:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following confirmed cases and deaths due to COVID-19 through 2:30 p.m. on 3/31/2020

  • 17,600 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 6,713  confirmed cases  (up 922 from the 5,791 cases that were reported at 2:30 p.m. on March 30)
  • 708 patients are hospitalized (up 107 from March 30), 229 of those are in the intensive care unit (up 48 from March 30) 
  • 53 deaths (up 9 from March 30) 

A breakdown of cases by township reported through 1:18 p.m. on 3/31/2020

Note: this breakdown comprises the information from 6,259 records available to Suffolk County at this time. 

  • Islip -- 1,242, up from 911 on March 30
  • Huntington -- 1,086, up from 868 on March 30
  • Brookhaven -- 907, up from 671 on March 30
  • Babylon --  884, up from 609 on March 30 
  • Smithtown -- 302, up from 230 on March 30
  • Southold -- 142,  up from 135 on  March 30
  • Southampton --  99, up from 78 on March 30
  • Riverhead -- 82, up from 69 on March 30
  • East Hampton -- 24, up from 19 on March 30
  • Shelter Island -- 1,  no change from March 30
  • Township not known -- 1,490

Deaths reported on March 30 at 2:30 p.m. include:

  • An individual, age 80s, with underlying health conditions who died at a local adult care facility
  • An individual, age 70s, with underlying health conditions who was in mandatory isolation at a local hospital
  • An individual, age 90s, with underlying medical conditions who was in mandatory isolation at a local hospital
  • An individual, age 30s, with underlying health conditions who was in mandatory isolation at a local hospital
  • An individual, age 30s, with underlying health conditions who was in mandatory isolation at a local hospital
  • An individual, age 70s, with underlying medical conditions who was in mandatory isolation at a local hospital
  • An individual, age 80s, with underlying health conditions who was in mandatory isolation at a local hospital
  • An individual, age 80s, with underlying health conditions who was in mandatory isolation at a local hospital
  • An individual, age 40s, who died at home.
