COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - May 3, 2020, 2:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 through 2:30 p.m. on May 3, 2020

  • 98,749 COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 2,521 tests since May 2
  • 35.3 percent of those tested were confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 36,974 confirmed cases, up 889 from May 2.*
  • 1,673 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies, an addition of 409 from May 2.
  • Breakdown by town of COVID-19 cases can be found on the Suffolk County COVID-19 Map.**
  • 813 patients are hospitalized, a decrease of 38 from May 2 (This marks 13 consecutive days of decline.)   
  • 324 of hospitalized patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), a decrease of 3 patients from May 2
  • 1,256 individuals have died
  • 29 deaths have been reported since May 2
  • 3,274 hospital beds; 663 ICU beds
  • 77 additional patients were discharged from the hospital in the past 24 hours.

* As of May 2, confirmed case number includes positive antibody tests.

** The number of cases on the Suffolk COVID-19 map designated as “Township Not Known” represents individuals whose addresses were not immediately available.
