COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - May 7, 2020, 3:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 through 3:30 p.m. on May 7, 2020:

--106,755 COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 2,668 tests from May 6
--33.6 percent of those tested were confirmed positive for COVID-19
--104,087 COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 2,112 tests from May 5
--34.1 percent of those tested were confirmed positive for COVID-19

--28,881 antibody tests have been administered through May 6

--39,789 total positive COVID-19 cases, up 804 from May 6. Total includes positive antibody tests. Breakdown:
--36,258 persons tested positive for COVID-19; an additional 211 cases since May 6
--3,531 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies; 593 additional cases since May 5.

--719 patients are hospitalized, a decrease of 54 overall

  • 31 new patients were admitted to area hospitals in in the past 24 hours
  • 88 patients were discharged from the hospital in the past 24 hours

--301 of hospitalized patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), an increase of 6 patients since May 6

--1,547 individuals have died**

  • 226 deaths were reported on May 5**
  • 25 deaths were reported on May 6

--3,062 hospital beds; 600 ICU beds

* The number of cases on the Suffolk COVID-19 map designated as “Township Not Known” represents individuals whose addresses were not immediately available

**This steep increase in fatalities reflects new data reported to New York State on in addition to confirmed fatalities within nursing homes and adult-care facilities that were identified as part of the reconciliation process earlier this week. The process considered fatalities that were presumed COVID-19 positive before diagnostic testing became available. Click here for more information.
