COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - May 18, 2020, 3:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on May 18, 2020:

Testing

  • 134,643 COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 1,948 tests*
  • 28.4 percent of those tested were confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 77,425 total tested for antibodies

Tested Positive for COVID-19

  • 38,224 total
  • 107 new cases

Tested Positive for Antibodies

  • 9,925 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies

Hospitalization,* May 16

  • 505 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 8
  • ​169 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 7
  • 41 new admissions
  • 47 discharged 
  • 4,535 total discharged since March 22

Fatalities

  • 6 new fatalities
  • 1,754 total fatalities

Hospital Beds, May 16

  • 2,948 total hospital beds; 901 available*
  • 574 ICU beds; 208 available*

Suffolk County COVID-19 Guidance and Services

The test results data comes from a NYSDOH database that contains reported results from all the labs testing samples from New York State residents. NYS fatality data are reported by hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care facilities on a daily basis to the NYSDOH.
