COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - May 23, 2020, 4:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on May 23, 2020 

Testing

  • 149,827 COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 4,005 tests*
  • 25.9 percent of those tested were confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 93,161 total tested for antibodies as of May 22 (today’s update is unavailable)

 Tested Positive for COVID-19

  • 38,802 total
  • 130 new cases 

Tested Positive for Antibodies

  • 12,013 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies as of May 22 (today’s update is unavailable)

Hospitalization,* May 22

  • 374 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 35
  • 119 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 6
  • 17 new admissions
  • 45 discharged

Fatalities

  •  8 new fatalities
  • 1,822 total fatalities     

Hospital Beds

  • 3031 total hospital beds; 1041 available*
  • 595 ICU beds; 230 available*
