Covid-19 Case Update August 24, 2020 4pm

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on August 24, 2020. Last updated August 23, 2020

Total Persons Tested

  • 611,455 COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 4,910 tests        
  • 7.3 percent of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 0.6 percent of those tested on Long Island in the last reported 24-hour period tested positive for COVID-19
  • 0.4 percent of those tested in Suffolk County in the last reported 24-hour period tested positive for COVID-19

Tested Positive for COVID-19

  • 44,519 total cases
  • 21 new cases

Antibody Testing

  •        241,607 total were tested for antibodies
  •        25,424 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies

Fatalities

  • 0 fatalities
  • 2,001 total fatalities

Hospitalization numbers from August 23

  • 40 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 1 in the last  24 hours
  • 11 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), no change in the last 24 hours.
  • 0 new admissions
  • 5 discharges
  • 5,742 discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

  • 3,027 hospital beds, 946 available, 31 percent
  • 395 ICU beds, 139 available, 35 percent

NY Forward Statewide Guidelines

COVID-19 Travel Advisory
Beginning on June 25, 2020, persons traveling to New York, New Jersey or Connecticut from any state that has an infection rate above 10 per 100,000 on the seven-day rolling average or 10 percent of the total population positive on a seven-day rolling average are required to quarantine for 14-days. As of today, the states that are above that level include:
