COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - September 28, 2020, 5:00 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on September 28, 2020. Last Updated September 27, 2020.

Total Persons Tested

  • 818,583  COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 4,697 tests        
  • 5.7 percent of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 1.2 percent of those tested on Long Island in the last reported 24-hour period tested positive for COVID-19
  • 0.9  percent of those tested in Suffolk County in the last reported 24-hour period tested positive for COVID-19

Tested Positive for COVID-19

  • 46,428 total cases
  • 41 new cases

Antibody Testing

  • 266,351 total were tested for antibodies
  • 28,270 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies

Fatalities

  • 1 fatality
  • 2,014 total fatalities

Hospitalization numbers from September 27

  • 29 individuals were hospitalized, ), a decrease of 2 in 24 hours
  • 7  patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 1 in 24 hours
  • 4  new admissions
  • 5 discharges
  • 5,903 discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

  • 3,019 hospital beds, 890 available, 29 percent
  • 378 ICU beds, 91 available, 24 percent

NY Forward Statewide Guidelines

COVID-19 Travel Advisory
Beginning on June 25, 2020, persons traveling to New York, New Jersey or Connecticut from any state that has an infection rate above 10 per 100,000 on the seven-day rolling average or 10 percent of the total population positive on a seven-day rolling average are required to quarantine for 14-days. As of today, the states that are above that level include:
