COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - December 24, 2020, 4:00 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on December 24, 2020. Last updated December 23, 2020

COVID-19 Testing

  • 18,660 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 1,837,328 total tests have been administered since March
  • 1,330 new cases were reported
  • 86,715 total cases have been reported since March
  • 4.7% of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 6.5% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 6.4% positive on a 7-day average
  • 7.1% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 7.1% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing

  • 32,177 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies
  • 307,214 in total have been tested for antibodies

Fatalities

  • 15 fatalities
  • 2,226 total fatalities

COVID-19 Hospitalizations data from December 23, 2020

  • 597  individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 8 in 24 hours
  • 66 were new admissions
  • 91 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 1 in 24 hours
  • 45 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 60 were discharged since the last report
  • 7,383 have been discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

  • 3,207 hospital beds, 741 available, 23 percent
  • 438 ICU beds, 93 available, 21 percent
