COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - January 16, 2021, 3:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on January 16, 2021. Last updated January 15, 2020.

On January 15:

  •         21,598 COVID-19 tests were administered
  •         2,237,050 total tests have been administered since March
  •         1,787 new cases were reported
  •         124,384 total cases have been reported since March
  •         5.6% of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  •         7.6% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 8.1% positive on a 7-day average
  •         8.3% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 8.8% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing

  • 33,844  individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies
  • 317,382 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities

  • 15 fatalities
  • 2,560 total fatalities

Hospitalization data from January 15, 2021

  • 823 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 2 in 24 hours
  • 100 were new admissions
  • 147  patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 2  in 24 hours
  • 75 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 97 were discharged since the last report
  • 9,122 discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

  • 3,221 hospital beds, 691 available, 21%
  • 442 ICU beds, 90 available, 20%
