COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - April 22, 2021, 5:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on April 22, 2021. Last updated April 21, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information - As of April 21, 2021  (NOTE: NYS vaccination data had not been updated at the time of this posting.)

  •         621,660 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 13,816
  •         42.0.% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  •         414,671 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 8,408
  •         28.0% percent of the total population of 1,481,093 has completed their vaccine series 
  •         Demographics can be found on the NYSDOH vaccine tracker
  •         763,825 was the weekly allocation of COVID-19 vaccine first doses fully delivered to New York providers during the week 4/12-4/18

COVID-19 Viral Testing- On April 21, 2021:

  • 18,197 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 3,717,429 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 356  new cases were reported
  • 194,868 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 5.2% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 2.0% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 2.8% positive on a 7-day average
  • 1.9% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 2.8% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing Suffolk County

  • 49,150 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies
  • 365,651 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 4 fatalities
  • 3,327 total fatalities

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data from April 21, 2021

  • 261 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 22 in 24 hours
  • 20  were new admissions
  • 61 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 6 in 24 hours
  • 40 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 39 were discharged since the last report
  • 13,902 have been discharged since March 22,2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,134 hospital beds, 712 available, 23%
  • 433 ICU beds, 124 available, 29%
