Covid-19 Case Update April 23, 2021 4:50pm

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on April 23, 2021. Last updated April 22, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information - As of April 23, 2021  

  •         635,951 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 14,291
  •         42.9.% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  •         432,362 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 17,691
  •         29% percent of the total population of 1,481,093 have completed their vaccine series
  •         Demographics can be found on the NYSDOH vaccine tracker
  •         763,825 was the weekly allocation of COVID-19 vaccine first doses fully delivered to New York providers during the week 4/12-4/18

COVID-19 Viral Testing- On April 22, 2021:

  • 15,865 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 3,733,294 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 341  new cases were reported
  • 195,209 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 5.2% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 2.1% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 2.6% positive on a 7-day average
  • 2.1% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 2.6% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing Suffolk County

  • 49,456 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies
  • 366,164 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 3 fatalities
  • 3,330 total fatalities

Hospitalization data from April 22, as confirmed by NYSDOH on April 25:

  • 243 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 18 from April 21
  • 27  were new admissions
  • 61 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), no change in 24 hours
  • 42 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 37 were discharged since the prior report
  • 13,939 have been discharged since March 22, 2020 

Hospital Capacity from April 22, as confirmed by NYSDOH on April 25:

  • 3,123 hospital beds, 749 available, 24%
  • 433 ICU beds, 133 available, 31%
