Covid-19 Case Update May 20, 2021 3:15pm

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on May 20, 2021. Last updated May 19, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information - As of May 20, 2021  

  •         778,256 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 7,192
  •         52.5% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  •         64.9% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose  
  •         649,096 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 10,128
  •         43.8% percent of the total population of 1,481,093 have completed their vaccine series
  •         Demographics can be found on the NYSDOH vaccine tracker
  •         417,070 was the weekly allocation of COVID-19 vaccine first doses fully delivered to New York providers during the week 5/10-5/16.
  •         Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12+. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times.   •         If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

COVID-19 Viral Testing- On May 19, 2021

  • 12,360 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 4,047,263 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 85 new cases were reported
  • 199,824 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 4.9% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 0.7% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 0.9% positive on a 7-day average
  • 0.7% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 0.9% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing Suffolk County

  • 54,690 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies
  • 374,049 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  •          1 fatality
  • 3,384 total fatalities

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from May 19, 2021

  • 136 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 5 in 24 hours
  • 17 were new admissions
  • 31 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 3 in 24 hours
  • 20 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 12 were discharged since the last report
  • 14,445 have been discharged since March 22,2020

 Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,129 hospital beds, 782 available, 25%
  • 435 ICU beds, 115 available, 26%
