Covid-19 Case Update January 4, 2022

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on January 4, 2022. Last updated January 3,  2022

COVID-19 Vaccine Information, for January 3

  • 1,166,506 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 1,238.
  • 1,049,782 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 729.
  • 78.8% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose.
  • 91.6% of the population ages 18 and older has received at least one dose.
  • 70.8% percent of the total population is fully vaccinated.
  • 83.6% of the population ages 18 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 75.6% of the population ages 5 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 33.0% of fully vaccinated population have had a booster dose

  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering COVID vaccines to Suffolk County residents who are age 5 and older as well as booster doses to all who are eligible. Appointments are recommended. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms. COVID-19 Case Tracker- January 3, 2022

  • 13,539 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 6,475,152 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 3,806 new cases were reported
  • 257.0 cases per 100k;  362.8 on a 7-day average
  • 340,955 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 28.1% tested positive in Suffolk County; 26.6% positive on a 7-day average
  • 27.3% tested positive on Long Island; 25.5% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies: On January 3, 2022: 103,429  individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies; 431,720  total were tested for antibodies.   

Fatalities, Suffolk County, January 3, 2022

  • 11 fatalities:
  • 3,845  fatalities since March 2020

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, January 3, 2022

  • 840 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 55 in 24 hours
  • 131 were new admissions
  • 109 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 9 in 24 hours
  • 51 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 75 were discharged since the last report
  • 19,020 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,101 hospital beds, 727 available, 24%
  • 389 ICU beds, 97 available, 28%
