Suffolk County Offers Support for Residents at Risk for Diabetes
“Healthy Heart, Healthy Weight, Healthy Attitude”
The Suffolk County Department of Health Services, in collaboration with Cornell Cooperative Extension, is offering a program to residents who are overweight and struggling with high cholesterol and/or high blood pressure, all which contribute to risk for diabetes.
The four-week program, entitled “Healthy Heart, Healthy Weight, Healthy Attitude” is designed to help participants improve eating habits, weight and overall health. All community residents are welcome. There is no charge for participation, however seating is limited and pre-registration is required. Please call 727-7850 ext. 340 to register.
The program will be available at the following locations:
Patchogue-Medford Library
54-60 East Main St., Patchogue, NY 11772
Wednesday evenings from 6:30—8:30 p.m.
October 2, 9, 16, 23
Participation in all sessions is necessary
Dr. Tomarken, Commissioner of Health Services, said, “This is an excellent program and I encourage anyone who is dealing with health issues that could result in a diagnosis of diabetes to attend. Incorporating healthy changes in eating habits and daily routine into one’s lifestyle can go a long way toward improving overall health and reducing the risk of developing diabetes.”
