The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of the following salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.  Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued the next suitable day

Weather permitting; the Suffolk County Department of Public Works is planning to treat sections of the following communities as part of their ongoing annual efforts to control adult mosquitoes.

Advisory for Suffolk County Beaches to be Lifted at 6 AM, August 12

The Suffolk County Department of Health announced today that the advisory issued Friday, August 10, 2012, against bathing at 67 Beaches will be lifted at 6 a.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012. However, Sayville Marina Park Beach and Sayville Beach are closed to bathing because bacterial numbers from today's samples were found to be in excess of acceptable criteria.

Benjamin Beach Closed

Suffolk County Department of Health Services announced that Benjamin Beach in Bay Shore is closed to bathing due to the finding of bacterial levels in excess of acceptable criteria

Advisory Issued Against Bathing at 67 Suffolk County Beaches Due to Heavy Rainfall

Hauppauge, NY – The Suffolk County Department of Health Services has issued an advisory against bathing at 67 beaches (list below). The advisory is based on the potential that bacterial numbers in excess of New York State standards resulting from the heavy rain that occurred today will impact these areas.
