Covid-19 Case Update December 22, 2020 4pm

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on December 22, 2020. Last updated December 21, 2020

Data is from December 21

COVID-19 Testing

  • 14,282 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 1,801,583 total tests have been administered since March
  • 1034 new cases were reported
  • 84,146 total cases have been reported since March
  • 4.7% of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 6.7% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 6.5% positive on a 7-day average
  • 7.2% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 7.2% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing

  • 32,064 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies
  • 306,283 in total have been tested for antibodies

Fatalities

  • 12 fatalities
  • 2,197 total fatalities

COVID-19 Hospitalizations data from December 21, 2020

  • 572 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 16 in 24 hours
  • 64 were new admissions
  • 94 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 5 in 24 hours
  • 51 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 43 were discharged since the last report
  • 7,278 have been discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

  • 3,169 hospital beds, 770 available, 24 percent
  • 430 ICU beds, 95 available, 22 percent
