Covid-19 Case Update January 7, 2021 4pm

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on January 7, 2021. Last updated January 6, 2021

Data is from January 6

COVID-19 Testing

·         20,941 COVID-19 tests were administered

·         2,059,769 total tests have been administered since March

·         2,194 new cases were reported

·         108,255  total cases have been reported since March

·          5.3% of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19

·         9.6% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 9.5% positive on a 7-day average

·         10.5% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 10.4% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing

·         32,947 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies

312,331 total have been tested for antibodies


·         22 fatalities

·         2,410 total fatalities

COVID-19 Hospitalizations data from January 6, 2021

·         840 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 11 in 24 hours

·         114 were new admissions

·         124 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU),  a decrease of 2 in 24 hours

·         72  patients were in the ICU and intubated

·         98 were discharged since the last report

·         8,287  have been discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

·         3,259  hospital beds, 630  available, 19%

·         435 ICU beds, 67 available, 15%
