COVID-19 Case Update - September 5, 2021

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on September 5, 2021. Last updated September 4, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  • 1,007,838 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 1,504
  • 903,120 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 1,592
  • 68.0% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  • 81.1% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose
  • 61.0% percent of the total population has completed the vaccine series
  • 73.6% of the population ages 18+ has completed the vaccine series, as of September 4, 2021

  • Vaccination rates by zip code
  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12 and older. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

  • 4,892,041  total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 547  ew cases were reported
  • 219,387 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 4.5% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 4.5 % tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 4.6% positive on a 7-day average
  • 4.3% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 4.3% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies: 76,545 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies; 402,599 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 3 fatalities
  • 3,470 total fatalities since March 2020

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from September 4, 2021

  • 223 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of  17 in 24 hours
  • 27 were new admissions
  • 46 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 4 in 24 hours
  • 20 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 39 were discharged since the last report
  • 15,613  have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,136 hospital beds, 755  available, 28%
  • 394 ICU beds, 115 available, 29%
