Horseback Riding

Horseback riding is permitted on marked trails in following County Parks only. A Green Key Card and Horseback Riding Permit are required for all riders.

Daily and annual horseback riding permits may be purchased from the administration office in West Sayville, West Hills, Blydenburgh, Cathedral Pines, Southaven, Sears Bellows, Montauk County Parks, as well as purchased online. Check with each park for hours of operation.

Riding Stables

You don’t need to own your own horse to go horseback riding. Riding stables in Suffolk County Parks offer reliable and friendly trail horses for your convenience. Each of the licensee stables provides a variety of equestrian services, and are open year-round, weather permitting.

Old Field Farm in Setauket is a unique equestrian facility founded by philanthropist Ward Melville and acquired by Suffolk County Parks. It features a 22-stall main barn and a 56-box grandstand. It is currently being maintained and renovated by the non-profit corporation Old Field Farm, Ltd. Special events take place throughout the year to raise funds for the revitalization of this beautiful landmark. Please call or visit their website for more information and events.
