Suffolk County Pharmacy-to-Practice Program Offers Vaccines to Medical Providers, Nursing Homes and Pharmacies

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone today announced that the Department of Health Services is offering a number of upcoming COVID-19 vaccine clinics in communities across the County.

“As always, my top priority is the health and safety of all residents here in Suffolk County. That is why it is so critical that we continue to do everything we can to provide our residents with access to the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “I continue to strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to roll up their sleeves and get their vaccine and booster. The science is clear, vaccines save lives.”

To make the vaccine available to more residents, the Department of Health Services is providing COVID-19 vaccines to pediatricians, medical providers, nursing homes and pharmacies in quantities that are appropriate for their practices. Providers may order vaccines through an online portal that can be found here. Anyone with questions can call 311 Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and ask to speak with someone in the Central Pharmacy

Dr. Gregson Pigott, Suffolk County Health Commissioner said: “We urge every person who is eligible to receive a booster vaccine to get one as soon as possible. Recent studies have shown that COVID-19 vaccines have been extremely effective at reducing your risk of dying or needing a ventilator from this virus as compared with adults who were not vaccinated. Protection was highest in adults who received a third COVID-19 vaccine dose.”
