(Hauppauge, NY - March 20, 2012) - Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone hosted the Suffolk County Supervisors’ Association meeting at the H. Lee Dennison Building on Monday. County Executive Bellone, who previously served for 10 years as Babylon Town Supervisor and former Chair of the Suffolk County Supervisors’ Association, talked about the need for Suffolk County to partner with towns to create jobs and advance innovative projects. “I believe there are opportunities to succeed and create jobs even in these difficult times,” County Executive Bellone told the supervisors. “But it is important for the county to understand that towns are where zoning and planning decisions are made. Instead of forcing planning onto communities, I want to make Suffolk County’s economic development and planning staff available as a resource for townships.”
"I thank County Executive Steve Bellone for hosting the Supervisors’ Association and look forward to working with him to focus on our mutual economic development priorities. Yesterday’s meeting was productive and I am glad the Supervisors have a partner in the County Executive's office," said Supervisor Mark Lesko, Chair of the Suffolk County Supervisors’ Association.
