2024 SPECIAL LONG ISLAND SHOTGUN AND MUZZLE LOADING RIFLE DEER HUNTING SEASON

The Suffolk County Department of Parks will be participating in the 2024 Special Long Island Shotgun and Muzzle Loading Rifle Deer Hunting Season (the “Deer Hunting Season”). Deer Hunting Season locations will include Hubbard County Park and Montauk County Park. Hubbard County Park will include eleven (11) hunting areas numbered 2 through 12 and Montauk County Park will include four (4) hunting areas numbered 1 through 4. A maximum of three (3) hunters are permitted per area.

Maps of these areas are available on the Suffolk County Parks website: https://suffolkcountyny.gov/Departments/Parks/Things-To-Do/Hunting/Shotgun and the Suffolk County Parks social media pages, or they may be requested via email at: scparks@suffolkcountyny.gov.

Suffolk County Parks’ 2024 Deer Hunting Season will last for four (4) weeks, as follows:

Week #1 January 8th – 12th

Week #2 January 15th – 19th

Week #3 January 22nd – 26th

Week #4 January 29th – 31st

Advanced Reservations

Suffolk County Parks will be taking online reservations for hunting areas instead of conducting an advanced lottery. The reservation system will open for hunting reservations on December 4, 2023, at 9:00 am. “Party Leaders” must be Suffolk County residents, 18 years or older, with a valid green key card, and be able to log into their reservation system account. Hunting Party Leaders are only eligible to make one (1) reservation between December 4, 2023, and December 17, 2023. After this initial period, we will open the reservation system, beginning at 9AM the following day, for additional hunting area reservations based on availability. Hunters may make an additional two (2) reservations for a total of three (3) hunting area reservations. Advance reservations can be made up until 2PM the day before the reservation. After that time reservations will close and vacant areas will be available at the Daily Lottery.

Green Key holders may pre-purchase the 2024 Annual Shotgun Hunting Permit online or in person at any of our year-round parks ahead of the December 4, 2023, reservation period opening. Pre-purchasing your annual hunting permit DOES NOT guarantee a reservation. If you do not pre-purchase your permit, you can add it to your cart before making your hunting area reservation.

If you need help accessing your online account before the hunting reservations open on December 4, 2023, please call the Suffolk County Parks operations office at 631-854-4949 or email us at scparks@suffolkcountyny.gov.

Daily Lottery

Suffolk County Parks will still conduct a daily lottery for areas not reserved in advance at Hubbard County Park and Montauk County Park. The check-in station will open each day at 6:00 AM and the Daily Lottery will be held at 6:15 AM.

Any reserved hunting area not occupied by 9:00 AM will be reassigned by a Daily Lottery of all hunters present. No access is permitted to hunting areas at either park after 1:00 PM.
