County Executive Bellone Taps Suffolk County Director of Community Development & Affordable Housing for Real Estate Post

(Hauppauge, NY – July 11, 2012) – In a move designed to create greater synergy and efficiency within the Department of Economic Development and Planning, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has tapped the County’s current Director of Community Development and Affordable Housing Jill Rosen-Nikoloff to lead the County’s Real Property division.  Rosen-Nikoloff, a graduate of St. John University’s School of Law, has administered the Affordable Housing division for five years, and took on responsibility for Community Development earlier this year.  She has a proven track record in comprehensive planning, land valuation and development and construction of real property for affordable housing in partnership with municipalities and developers.  This move leverages her expertise to develop synergies among the three divisions leading to greater productivity, efficiency and cost savings.

Adding this expanded responsibility for Rosen-Nikoloff will realize an immediate cost saving because she will be replacing a separate managerial salaried position.

According to County Executive Bellone, “Consolidating land management functions under one manager improves efficiency and saves taxpayer dollars.  Tapping the talent and expertise of a professional of Jill Rosen-Nikoloff’s caliber and experience is essential to our long term economic plan, which puts a great emphasis on promoting strategic land use management.”

Suffolk’s Deputy County Executive for Economic Development Joanne Minieri, who recommended Rosen-Nikoloff for the expanded role, said, “As Jill’s manager, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with her on community development and affordable housing projects. Very quickly, I recognized her tremendous leadership ability, as well as her deep understanding of land management and development.  Bringing together the three divisions – community development, affordable housing and real property – under Jill’s leadership will lead to more strategic decisions; greater productivity and team work among the three divisions, and will bring us closer to realizing the County Executive’s economic development vision.”

Long Island Builders Institute President Clara Datre said, “Jill Rosen-Nikoloff is such an asset and I am thrilled to hear that County Executive Bellone has tapped her for this important post.  She is extremely qualified.  Through the LI Home Builders Development Corp, which builds homes for returning vets, I have worked with Jill on a number of projects.  In addition, my company, Datre Home Builders, has worked with Jill on the Cortland Square affordable housing development recently completed in downtown Bay Shore.  Jill does what it takes to bring all parties to the table to gain consensus and get projects completed.  She makes things happen.”

Rosen-Nikoloff has more than 20 years of experience in real property acquisition, mergers and acquisitions, and housing-related matters.
