(Hauppauge, NY – July 11, 2012) – County Executive Steven Bellone has put out a call to local inventors to showcase their products at the Suffolk County Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club July 17th meeting.
This is the third time since the Inventors Club’s inception that an entire monthly meeting has been devoted to showcasing local inventions. Previous showcases were oversubscribed, with more than twenty inventors coming forward with everything from household and kitchen inventions to high technology innovations. During the last year, several inventors from the club have been featured on the Home Shopping Network and other national venues.
County Executive Bellone said he is looking forward to seeing the creative spirit of Suffolk residents on display again this summer. “Suffolk County has always been an innovative place – home to Marconi, Tesla and Joy Mangano. We are the cradle of aviation and birthplace of the MRI. This showcase offers an exciting opportunity to see what our local inventors have been working on lately.”
The Suffolk County Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club continues to grow, with more than 1,500 people coming through the doors since it began. Most meetings feature a speaker and time for inventors to mix with business people, attorneys and those who would like to start their own business. The club is a meeting place for inventors with patents pending, others who had sold inventions and those who have lots of ideas, but don’t know where to start.
The July 17th showcase is limited to products or prototypes that have intellectual property protection or that can be shown at the inventor’s own risk. No drawings or plans will be accepted for display. Inventions that have not been shown at the showcase in 2011 will get priority over those that have already been showcased and entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. The number of responses will determine how much time will be allotted for each presentation.
Please call 631-853-4805 or e-mail: lisaann.broughton@suffolkcountyny.gov if you are an inventor interested in participating or would like additional information.
There is no charge/no registration required to attend the meetings. Suffolk County Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club will meet Tuesday, July 17th at 7 p.m. at the H. Lee Dennison Building, 100 Veteran’s Highway, Hauppauge, NY 11788.
