The Peconic Estuary Program is part of the National Estuary
Program (NEP), which aims to protect and preserve nationally significant
estuaries that are threatened by pollution, development, or overuse. The
Peconic Estuary was named an “estuary of national significance” in 1992.
This is the annual meeting of the Peconic Estuary Program
(PEP) Policy Committee. Members and invitees include representatives from US EPA,
NY DEC, Suffolk County, local government, citizens, and scientists. The meeting
will include a round table forum for representatives to give brief updates on
this past year’s achievements and initiatives. Peconic Estuary Program will review this year’s
progress and give updates on our achievements and approve this year’s budget.
