- Overview of general
activity of the Patient Advocate Unit.
- There will be a presentation
by Dr. Thomas Schmidt, Ph.D., CASAC, regarding opioid issues in Suffolk
County. Dr. Schmidt has worked in the Opioid Treatment Programs operated
by the Suffolk County Department of Health Services for 35 years, and
currently oversees the operations of the four Outpatient Treatment
Programs operated by the Division of Community Mental Hygiene. Dr. Schmidt
has also been an educator, working as a consultant for a number of organizations that provide training
for drug treatment providers and professionals working in related fields
including Molloy College Center for Addiction Studies and the Center for Public
Health Education at Stony Brook University.

County Legislature to assist vulnerable residents with accessing needed health
