We are looking forward to seeing everyone and updating
you on what’s been happening this year. Among other things, we will be
discussing and asking for approval of the Peconic Estuary Program’s FFY18
budget and work plan. We are also looking forward to roundtable updates from
the Policy Committee members: US EPA, NYSDEC, Suffolk County, Local
Governments, and from the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control
Commission (NEIWPCC), our PEP Technical Advisory Committee and PEP Citizens
Advisory Committee.
The Peconic Estuary Program is part of the National
Estuary Program (NEP), which aims to protect and preserve nationally
significant estuaries that are threatened by pollution, development, or
overuse. The Peconic Estuary was named an “estuary of national significance” in
1992.
