AGENDA
- Overview of general activity of the Patient Advocate Unit.
- There will be a presentation by Ms. Ilene Corina, a Patient Safety
and Advocate Consultant, and the founder and President of the Pulse Center
for Patient Safety, Education, & Advocacy (Pulse CPSEA). Consumers of
healthcare and healthcare information are frequently challenged to
advocate for themselves through the many facets of healthcare. Teaching
patients how to navigate the healthcare system and to communicate more
effectively with their healthcare provider serves to facilitate better
decision making, better patient outcomes, and improves the lives of
patients, their families, and caregivers. Ilene will be providing
information and guidance that will increase your knowledge on how to be
your own best advocate, or the advocate for another in need of help and
support. The patient advocate strives to foster a collaborative
relationship between the patient and the healthcare team and optimize the
patient-provider dynamic in an increasingly complex medical environment.
If you will be joining us for this meeting, please let
us know in advance if you will need an accommodation that will make the event
accessible to you.
Media representatives who would like information or
who plan to attend the meeting are asked to contact Grace Kelly-McGovern at
