Other Beach Closures lifted
as of 3 p.m
As
of 3:00 p.m. today, three more beaches have been closed to swimming.
They
are Tides Beach in the Town of Brookhaven and Valley Grove Beach and Prices
Bend Beach in the Town of Huntington
The advisory is based on the potential that
bacterial numbers in excess of New York State standards, resulting from the
heavy rain, will impact these areas.
Beaches will reopen when further testing
reveals that the bacteria have subsided to acceptable levels
Additionally, as of 3p.m. today the beach
closures issued for Venetian Shores Beach and Amityville Village Beach in the
Town of Babylon, Cold Spring Harbor Beach Club Beach in the Town of Huntington,
Corey Beach in the Town of Brookhaven, and West Islip Beach, Benjamins Beach,
Islip Beach, East Islip Beach, Brightwaters Village Beach, and Amityville
Village Beach, in the Town of Islip have
been lifted, as results of recent samples collected show the water quality
to be within acceptable levels.
