AGENDA
- Overview of general activity of the Patient Advocate Unit.
- There will be a presentation by Ms. Danielle Brechter, MS, PNP,
PHN IV, IAP/CLPPP Administrator. Ms. Brechter has been with the Suffolk
County Department of Health Services for the past 20 years in multiple
departments within the Department of Patient Care, and has provided
primary care as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in several former Suffolk
County Health Centers. Ms. Brechter will be addressing the issue of Human Papilloma
Virus (HPV), the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United
States according to the CDC. The Committee will be viewing a powerful film,
narrated by Vanessa Williams, “Someone
You Love/The HPV Epidemic”.
The
mission of the IAP (Immunization Action Program) is to ensure that all children
in Suffolk County are fully immunized according to CDC guidelines. To comply with
this mission, the program holds immunization clinics, and conducts immunization
audits in private provider’s offices, schools, and nursery/day care centers.
Additionally, the staff under Ms. Brechter’s direction, conducts educational
programs for healthcare professionals and stakeholder members in the community,
and responds to all inquiries regarding immunizations and the services available
in Suffolk County.

Oversight Committee was created in 2013 by the Suffolk County Legislature to
assist vulnerable residents with accessing needed health care services.
